Longer routes, such as a New York run, cover more carrier miles than a California move. Lane demand and the route a carrier can take also shape the quote.
Winter demand for Florida-bound moves can tighten carrier space. Sierra Nevada snow can close passes, while summer and fall wildfires can shut highways and disrupt delivery timing.
SUVs and crossovers take more trailer space than sedans, which can raise the quote. Vehicle weight and dimensions also affect how a carrier loads the trailer.
Tight streets or gated entrances around San Mateo Park and Baywood can limit a large carrier’s access. A difficult approach may require extra coordination or a different meeting point.
Enclosed carriers offer added protection from road and weather exposure but use more limited trailer space, so they generally cost more than open transport.

For a Baywood or San Mateo Park pickup, suggest a wide, truck-friendly meeting spot nearby if the street is tight or access is gated.
Offer a flexible pickup window and share it early so the carrier can plan around Bay Area traffic and arrange a smooth handoff.
For a standard daily driver, choose open transport; reserve enclosed service for a high-value car that needs added protection.
Send the exact address and any gate, parking or loading instructions before dispatch, especially around Bay Meadows or Hayward Park.
Remove or shield your FasTrak transponder before shipping. It is used on California toll bridges, express lanes and toll roads.

Out-of-state gas cars from model year 1976 or newer need a smog check at first California registration. Diesel cars from 1998 or newer under 14,001 lbs also need one; most areas require checks every two years after that. [CA BAR]

New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.

Typical inbound quotes to San Mateo are $950–$1,250. These ranges cover the middle half of customer quotes on record, not a fixed price. Your route, vehicle, access and service type shape the final quote.
From San Mateo, Dallas and Austin typically take 2–6 days on the road; New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami and Washington, DC typically take 4–10 days, and Chicago takes 3–7 days. Los Angeles is 0–2 days and Phoenix 0–3 days. Transit estimates start after pickup and aren’t guarantees.
Carriers arranged through SAKAEM are FMCSA-licensed and insured, with at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo coverage. Ask the carrier for its insurance details before pickup, and keep those details with your shipment paperwork.
You may place up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line. Tell SAKAEM in advance so the carrier can confirm the load works for your shipment. Keep valuables and fragile items with you rather than leaving them in the car.
SAKAEM can arrange transport for a non-running car if it rolls, brakes and steers, and a key is available. Describe its condition when you request a quote so the carrier can plan for loading and bring suitable equipment.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are also accepted. Confirm the payment plan before pickup and keep the agreement handy so you know what is due to SAKAEM and what is paid to the carrier.
A designated adult must be present at pickup and delivery to inspect the car and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot be there, arrange a trusted adult in advance and make sure they can access the vehicle and review its condition with the driver.
