New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.
For a running vehicle on open transport, the typical Atlanta quote is $725–$1,175 leaving the city and the same range arriving. Those figures reflect the middle half of customer quotes on record: 5,880 outbound and 6,504 inbound. Your exact quote depends on the lane, vehicle, timing and pickup access.
Transit estimates vary by destination: Atlanta to New York is 1–4 days, Dallas 1–4 days, Los Angeles 3–7 days, and Seattle 4–9 days. These are typical road days, starting after pickup; estimates aren't guarantees. Pickup scheduling happens before that travel time begins, so plan around the pickup window as well as the lane.
Carriers SAKAEM books are FMCSA-licensed and insured, with at least $1,000,000 liability and $100,000 cargo insurance. Review the pickup inspection record with the driver and keep a copy of the Bill of Lading. Ask how to report damage or start a claim before the car is loaded, so you know who to contact if a problem comes up.
SAKAEM allows up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line. Keep the load inside that limit and secure it so nothing shifts. Personal items are not allowed on Hawaii ocean shipments. Tell the carrier in advance if you plan to leave anything in the car, and remove valuables, documents and loose items.
SAKAEM can ship a non-running vehicle if it rolls, brakes and steers, and you provide a key. Tell us it does not run when you request the quote; the carrier needs that detail to bring suitable loading equipment and price the move accurately. If the car cannot roll, brake or steer, ask before booking.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are also accepted. SAKAEM does not require an upfront deposit, and cancellation is free. Confirm the payment method with the carrier before pickup, especially if you plan to use cash or a certified check, and keep your receipt.
A designated adult must be at both pickup and delivery. They inspect the vehicle with the driver, note its condition and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot be there, choose someone you trust and share the shipment details with them ahead of time. Make sure they can access the car and have the keys.
