A Seattle or Los Angeles run covers more ground than an Athens–New York lane, so fuel, road time and carrier availability have more effect on the quote.
Hurricane season can disrupt routes near Savannah and Brunswick, while occasional winter ice in north Georgia may slow carriers. Weather can affect lane availability and quotes.
SUVs, crossovers and pickups take more trailer space than sedans, so carriers often quote larger vehicles higher. Modifications that change a vehicle’s footprint can also affect loading.
A carrier truck may not fit tight turns or restricted streets in Downtown Historic District or Five Points. Limited access can require a nearby meeting point and change dispatch planning.
Open transport is the standard option reflected in Athens quote history. Enclosed service costs more but adds protection for a high-value car and may have fewer carrier options.
Allow some flexibility in your pickup window, especially for long westbound runs to Seattle, Los Angeles or San Jose, so dispatch can work with carrier routing.
Share the exact trim, modifications and running condition before you accept a quote. Update SAKAEM if the car’s condition changes.
Photograph the vehicle before loading, and make sure existing marks are recorded on the inspection paperwork at handoff.
If your car is coming from California or Washington, keep your delivery contact reachable and confirm where the carrier should call before dispatch.
Provide the actual pickup and delivery addresses when requesting an Athens quote, rather than only the city names, to help clarify the route and handoff plan.

New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.
For open transport of a running car, typical quotes on record for shipping from Athens are $750–$1,225; shipping to Athens is $800–$1,250. These are the middle half of customer quotes, not a guaranteed offer. Your route, vehicle, pickup access, season and transport type affect the final quote.
The Athens–New York lane is estimated at 1–4 days on the road; Seattle is 4–9 days, and Denver is 2–6 days. These are road-time estimates that begin after pickup, not guaranteed delivery dates. SAKAEM works with FMCSA-licensed and insured carriers. Carriers carry at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Ask your carrier to explain how its coverage applies to your vehicle and what to do if you notice damage at delivery.
SAKAEM allows up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line. Pack only belongings you can secure, and keep valuables, paperwork and anything you may need during the move with you. Hawaii ocean shipments are excluded from this allowance.
Yes. SAKAEM can ship a non-running vehicle if it rolls, brakes and steers, and you provide a key. Tell us its condition before booking so the carrier can bring the right equipment and plan a safe loading approach. A vehicle that cannot meet these conditions needs a different transport plan.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are also accepted. Confirm the payment method with SAKAEM and the carrier before pickup so you know who collects payment and when it is due.
A designated adult must be at both pickup and delivery to inspect the vehicle with the carrier and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot attend, arrange another adult in advance and make sure they can review the car’s condition and complete the handoff paperwork.
