Distance & lane
A Los Angeles trip is a cross-country haul, while Dallas and Miami use different corridors. Route length and lane demand shape carrier costs, and Jersey City’s leading destination differs from the wider metro’s.
Shipping to Jersey City: $925–$1,350
The table shows that a larger vehicle usually brings a higher quote, while enclosed shipping costs more than open because it adds protection. For a daily driver, open transport is often the budget-conscious fit; consider enclosed for a high-value car.
| Vehicle | Open carrier | Enclosed carrier |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan / coupe | $1,050 | $1,475 |
| SUV / crossover | $1,175 | $1,925 |

I highly recommend Sakaem Logistics. They moved my car from Florida to New Jersey and everything was so easy and perfect.
What stood out the most was the excellent communication from the SAKAEM team. They kept us informed every step of the way, answered all our questions quickly, and made sure we felt supported. The service was smooth, and the drivers were punctual and respectful. Couldn’t have asked for better coordination!
Super fast and efficient delivery! We had a tight deadline, and SAKAEM Logistics not only met it — they beat it. The process was incredibly well-organized, and the team worked quickly without cutting corners. Big thanks to the reliable drivers and staff who made it all happen!
A Los Angeles trip is a cross-country haul, while Dallas and Miami use different corridors. Route length and lane demand shape carrier costs, and Jersey City’s leading destination differs from the wider metro’s.
New Jersey winter snow and ice can affect carrier schedules. Atlantic hurricane season, from June 1 to November 30, can also disrupt routes and shift carrier availability.
SUVs and crossovers take more carrier space and weight capacity than sedans, so they often cost more to ship. Vehicle dimensions can also affect loading fit.
Tight streets in Downtown or Journal Square can limit truck access. A carrier may need a wider nearby meeting point, which can change dispatch arrangements and the quote.
Open transport is the standard option for most cars. Enclosed trailers add protection for high-value vehicles, but that extra protection costs more.
For a Los Angeles-bound shipment, offer more than one acceptable pickup date so the carrier has room to coordinate the long-haul route.
If your Downtown or Journal Square block is tight, agree on a wider nearby pickup spot with the carrier before the scheduled pickup.
Choose open transport for a routine car; reserve enclosed service for a high-value vehicle that needs added protection.
Give the broker your vehicle type and running condition when you request a quote. That helps avoid a mismatch at dispatch.
For pickups around winter storms or hurricane weather, keep your date window flexible and confirm how the driver can reach you.

If you’re bringing a car to Jersey City as a new resident, sort out New Jersey title, registration and insurance steps after the move. This checklist covers deadlines and inspection details to plan for.
New residents must transfer their title and registration within 60 days of moving, or before their out-of-state registration expires if sooner. [NJ MVC]
Bring your out-of-state title, ID, New Jersey insurance, Form OS/SS-UTA and Form BA-49. If a lender holds the title, request it with Form OS/SS-54; registration brings a temporary inspection card. [NJ MVC]
Since January 1, 2026, Standard Policy minimums are $35,000 per person and $70,000 per accident for injuries, $25,000 for property damage, and $15,000 PIP. A Basic Policy is also legal. [NJ DOBI]
Gas and hybrid cars from model year 1996 need emissions tests every two years after five model years; electric cars are exempt. Regular passenger cars need no safety check; commercial and for-hire vehicles need yearly safety and emissions inspections. [NJ MVC]
Aftermarket tint is barred on front side windows and the windshield, except the top 6 inches above the AS-1 line, unless the MVC approves a medical exemption. This applies to sedans, SUVs and vans. [NJ MVC]
The New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and other toll roads use E-ZPass; drivers without a tag are billed by mail through Toll-by-Plate. [NJTA]

New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.
Jersey City quotes typically fall at $925–$1,275 for outbound shipping and $925–$1,350 for inbound shipping. These are open-transport quotes for running vehicles, based on the middle half of customer quotes on record. Jersey City’s outbound pricing is about the same as across the New York-Newark-Jersey City metro; route, vehicle, season and pickup access shape your quote.
For a Jersey City–Los Angeles move, typical road transit is 4–10 days; Dallas is 2–6 days and Miami is 1–5 days. Transit starts after pickup, and estimates aren’t guarantees. New Jersey snow and ice, plus Atlantic hurricane-season weather, can affect delivery timing.
SAKAEM’s carriers are FMCSA-licensed and insured, with at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Before pickup, ask which carrier is assigned and review the vehicle’s condition together so the handoff record is clear. That gives you a written reference if questions come up later.
SAKAEM allows up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line. Keep the load within that limit and secure it before pickup; leave valuables and important documents with you. Hawaii ocean shipments allow no personal items.
SAKAEM can ship a non-running car if it rolls, brakes and steers, and you provide a key. Tell us its condition before booking so the carrier can plan loading. A vehicle that cannot roll, brake or steer does not meet those requirements. SAKAEM does not ship boats.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are accepted too. Confirm your chosen option before pickup, and have it ready for the agreed handoff so payment does not slow the exchange.
A designated adult must be present at both pickup and delivery to inspect the car and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot attend, choose someone you trust, make sure they can access the vehicle, and share the pickup details with them beforehand.
