Winter snow can close Sierra Nevada passes, including I-80 over Donner Pass, while summer and fall wildfires can shut highways. Route disruptions can affect carrier availability and delivery plans.
SUVs and pickups take more trailer space than sedans, which can raise the transport cost. Vehicle dimensions and weight help determine how a carrier can load the car.
A narrow street in Downtown Oxnard or a controlled gate near your address may limit truck access. The carrier may need a different way to reach your vehicle.
Open transport is the standard option for many cars. Enclosed transport costs more because it uses a protected trailer, which can make sense for a high-value vehicle.

New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.
For open transport of a running vehicle, Oxnard quotes on record typically fall between $1,000–$1,350 for shipping out and $925–$1,250 for shipping in. These are the middle half of customer quotes on record, not a guaranteed offer. Your exact quote depends on the lane, vehicle, pickup access, and transport type.
Typical road time is 2–6 days to Dallas or Houston, 3–7 days to Atlanta or Chicago, and 4–10 days to New York or Miami. These estimates start after pickup and are not guarantees; pickup scheduling and California road closures can affect the trip.
SAKAEM works with FMCSA-licensed, insured carriers that carry at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Ask how the carrier’s coverage applies to your car, and make sure existing damage is noted on the Bill of Lading at pickup.
You may leave up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line. Pack items securely, and keep valuables, documents, and anything you need during the move with you. Personal items are not allowed on Hawaii ocean shipments.
SAKAEM can ship a non-running vehicle if it rolls, brakes, and steers, and the driver has a key. Tell us its condition before booking so the carrier can plan the right equipment and loading. If it cannot roll, brake, or steer, ask about options before setting a pickup.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are also accepted. Confirm the payment method before pickup so you know who receives payment and when. Keep your receipt or payment confirmation for your records.
A designated adult must be at both pickup and delivery to inspect the car and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot attend, arrange another adult in advance and make sure they can access the car and discuss its condition. This keeps the handoff clear at both ends.
