Transit is SAKAEM's standard estimate by distance, counted from pickup.
Reno’s leading car origins are Florida, California, Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Georgia; together, those states account for roughly half of inbound shipments on record. That mix of western and cross-country routes means the carrier’s route into Reno can shape delivery timing.

Summer heat in southern Nevada and winter snow over passes near Reno and Lake Tahoe can slow carrier schedules. Snowbird travel can also tighten lane availability.
A larger SUV or pickup uses more trailer space and capacity than a sedan, which helps explain its higher typical open-transport quote. Vans can price differently.
Carriers need room to load safely. A narrow street or gated entry in Downtown Reno or Midtown may mean using a wider nearby location, adding coordination to the shipment.
Open transport is generally the lower-cost fit for everyday cars. Enclosed transport costs more, but can suit a high-value car that needs more protection from road exposure.

Offer a wider pickup window when snow affects passes near Reno or Lake Tahoe; more date options can make carrier coordination easier.
Tell SAKAEM the exact vehicle type and any nonstandard dimensions before accepting a quote, especially for an SUV or pickup, to avoid a revised estimate.
If your home is on a tight street or behind a gate, suggest a roomy spot near I-80, I-580, or US 395 instead of relying on door access.
Photograph the car from each side at handoff and note existing marks on the Bill of Lading before signing.
For a Reno–Las Vegas move, provide both full addresses instead of asking for a city-only estimate, so the quote reflects actual pickup and delivery access.

Bringing an out-of-state car to Reno means handling Nevada registration as well as transport. Use this checklist to plan the title, insurance, and Washoe County emissions steps.
New Nevada residents must get a Nevada driver’s license and register their vehicle within 30 days of moving. [NV DMV]
For a title transfer, get a free VIN inspection, Nevada insurance, and a Reno-area emissions test; bring your title (unless a lender holds it), current out-of-state registration and plates, and odometer reading to the DMV. [NV DMV]
Nevada requires at least 25/50/20 liability coverage: $25,000 for injury to one person, $50,000 for injuries to two or more, and $20,000 for property damage per accident. Out-of-state insurance is not accepted; your policy must be written for Nevada. [NV DMV]
In urban Washoe County, yearly smog checks apply to gas cars 1968 and newer and diesels up to 14,000 lbs. New vehicles skip the first three registrations, hybrids the first five model years; out-of-state tests don’t count. [NV DMV]
Nevada does not require regular safety inspections for passenger cars; new residents need only a one-time VIN inspection. [NV DMV]
Front side windows must let in at least 35% of light, with a 7% tolerance, and cannot be reflective. Rear and back windows can be any darkness with mirrors on both sides; windshield tint is limited to the top strip. [NRS 484D.440]
SAKAEM arranges pickup and delivery in Downtown Reno, Midtown District, Wells Avenue Neighborhood, Caughlin Ranch, and Damonte Ranch, with access via I-80, I-580, US 395, US 395 Alternate (Virginia Street), SR 431 (Mount Rose Highway), and SR 445 (Pyramid Highway). We also serve Sparks, Las Vegas, and Henderson; if a street is tight or gated, a nearby open meeting point may work better.
Provide pickup and delivery addresses, vehicle details, and preferred dates so SAKAEM can prepare a quote for your lane.
Review the quote and choose open or enclosed transport; confirm vehicle condition and any Reno-area access limits.

Meet the carrier at pickup and delivery, document the vehicle’s condition, and sign the Bill of Lading.
New to auto transport? Here's how to ship a car, step by step.
Quotes on record for open transport of running vehicles in Reno typically fall at $1,050–$1,525 when shipping out and $925–$1,425 when shipping in. These are the middle half of quotes, not a promise for every car or date. Your route, vehicle, transport type, and pickup access affect the quote. SAKAEM requires no upfront deposit, and cancellation is free.
For Reno outbound shipments, Las Vegas is typically 0–2 days after pickup; Phoenix is 0–3 days; Dallas, Houston, and Austin are 2–6 days. New York and Miami are 4–10 days, while Washington, DC is 4–9 days. These are road-time estimates after pickup, not pickup waits, and aren’t guarantees.
Every carrier SAKAEM uses is FMCSA-licensed and insured, with at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage and $100,000 in cargo insurance. Ask to review the carrier’s coverage details before pickup, and record the vehicle’s condition at handoff.
SAKAEM allows up to 100 lbs of personal items in the trunk or below the window line; Hawaii ocean shipments are excluded. Keep the load within that limit and remove valuables or loose items before the carrier arrives. This keeps the car clear for inspection and avoids confusion about what is being shipped.
SAKAEM can arrange transport for a non-running vehicle if it rolls, brakes, and steers, and you provide a key. Tell us before booking so the carrier can plan the loading process. If the car cannot meet those conditions, ask about your options before scheduling.
You can pay by card, or pay the carrier by cash or certified check; Zelle and Venmo are also accepted. Confirm your chosen method before pickup so you know whether payment goes through SAKAEM or directly to the carrier. Keep your payment receipt or confirmation.
A designated adult must be at both pickup and delivery to inspect the car and sign the Bill of Lading. If you cannot attend, arrange for an adult to meet the driver, walk around the vehicle, note its condition, and complete the paperwork.
